LLBO Seeks Feedback on Authorizing Sale of Edible Cannabinoid Products at Band Owned Businesses
CASS LAKE- The Leech Lake Tribal Council is seeking public feedback on a proposed resolution to allow the sale of edible cannabinoid products at tribally owned or licensed businesses. Legislation enacted by the State of Minnesota in July allows the sale and purchase of edibles and beverages that contain up to 5 milligrams of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) per serving and 50 milligrams per package. The tribal resolution would follow suit and allow the sale of those cannabis products that are regulated under state law.
If enacted, the measure could see the introduction of hemp derived THC edible products for sale at LLBO Casinos and other businesses. The resolution would also recognize the manufacture, sale and possession of cannabinoid products as a civil regulatory matter and therefore subject to the inherent jurisdictional authority of the tribe.
The public is encouraged to provide feedback on the proposal by filling out the online survey at: https://forms.office.com/r/bjLCv5Vbb5. Comments can also be submitted via email to comments@llojibwe.net or mailed to LLBO Communications, 190 Sailstar Dr NW, Cass Lake, MN 56633.
Results of the survey and submitted comments will be presented to the Tribal Council for action at the Quarterly Meeting in Inger on October 7th, 2022.
