02/25/21: LLBO COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout Expands To Include Non-Tribal Community Members

CASS LAKE, MN- The Leech Lake Tribal Council recently advanced the Band’s COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout program from “Tier 2B” to “Tier 3A”, which provides eligibility to all persons 18 years of age and older in a select number of towns/cities in the area. Also included in the latest expansion are non-IHS eligible spouses of Band Members and/or Band Employees (see “Vaccine Rollout Tiers” graphic for more info).

A recurring COVID-19 Vaccination event is being held every Friday at the Boys & Girls Club (208 Central Ave, Cass Lake, MN 56633). The dates for the community vaccination clinics planned for Tier 2C will be announced in the near future, these will take place in the communities of Prescott, Oak Point, Kego, Boy Lake, Sugar Point, Mission, S. Lake and Nut Hill.

All interested persons must make an appointment by calling the LLBO Vaccine Hotline at 218-368-4763. Attendees must also provide proof of residency when arriving at the clinic to receive their vaccination. Elders and Tribal members will continue to receive priority when making appointments.

By vaccinating all eligible community members living on and near the reservation, Tribal Health officials hope to further extend the protections offered by the vaccine to the community as a whole.

To date, more than 3000 vaccinations have been administered by the LLBO Health Division and Cass Lake Indian Health Service. At the time we published this article on February 25th,  more than 500 appointments were available for February 26, 2021 vaccination clinic. Please encourage any eligible persons to register for an appointment by calling 218-368-4763.

Tier 2C:

The following individuals are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 Vaccine through the LLBO Vaccination Clinic: All IHS eligible patients 18 years of age or non-IHS eligible spouses of Leech Lake Band Members and/or Employees

Tier 3A:

The following individuals are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 Vaccine through the LLBO Vaccination Clinic: All persons 18 years of age and older who live in one of these cities: Cass Lake, Bena, Walker, Deer River, Federal Dam, Longville, Boy River, Laporte, S. Lake and Inger.
