CASS LAKE, MN- On March 19, 2020, the Leech Lake Tribal Council and the LLBO COVID-19 Incident Management Team instituted “Tier Two” actions according to the COVID-19 Emergency Response Strategy implemented earlier this week.
The Tier Two emergency action requires mandatory dismissal of all non-essential elder (55+) and medically vulnerable employees. We want to encourage our vulnerable population to isolate themselves as much as is practical and also limit contact with others during this time.
Earlier today MDH confirmed a COVID-19 Case in Wadena County which lies within the Tier 2 Area identified in the COVID-19 Strategy. However, at this time the Wadena County confirmed case has been removed from the MDH website. Due to the uncertainty of MDH’s data and taking into additional consideration, a shortage of testing supplies that is limiting the state’s ability to track the spread of the illness, the decision was made to move to Tier Two immediately.
Taking the following precautions will reduce your risk of contracting COVID-19:
- Wash your hands regularly
- Cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze
- Stay home from work or school when you’re sick
- Drink lots of fluids
The CDC recommends washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds after using the bathroom, before eating and after blowing your nose or sneezing. It also advises to avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth and to frequently clean objects and surfaces you touch often.
