On a smoldering Thursday evening, the Nanda-gikendan event commenced at the Leech Lake Early Childhood facility in Cass Lake. This events purpose was to accentuate the Megwayaak Project and Farm to Early Care initiative and its transformation into a celebration of food, culture and community revitalization.
The 2nd annual Nanda-gikendan featured knowledgeable demonstrators along the Megwayaak trail and filled the air with laughter, language and enchantment. The event allowed our families and community members access to knowledge, skills and traditional values that have been broken or forgotten over the years and to help reestablish the intergenerational passing of knowledge.
