Annual Kids Perch Jerk returns March 3, 2018
After a brief hiatus due to warm weather and poor ice conditions last year, the Kids Perch Jerk is returning for 2018. Please come out and join us on Saturday, March 3, 2018.
Discussion held last year and finalized this winter will now see the annual event rotate each year between different lakes in all three districts of the Leech Lake Reservation. This year the event will be held at Shingobee Bay on Leech Lake near Walker, MN in District III. Next year’s event will be held in District I.
The fishing contest is open to all kids between ages 0 -16. Participants will be eligible for a cash prize for biggest Perch caught. There are three age groups (0-5, 6-10 & 11-15) with separate prizes for both boys and girls. An additional $100 prize is available in each age group for biggest fish caught of any species. All kids registered will also have a chance to win one of over 100 bikes that will be given away by random drawing.
Registration will open at 9:00 AM out in the main tent in front of Shingobee on the Bay. The first 480 kids registered will receive a free ice fishing pole courtesy of Leech Lake Public Relations. Parents, guardians and kids will also be treated to a free meal at lunchtime. All holes will be pre drilled and free bait will be available (supplies limited). Bring the kids out and join us for a day of fun and fishing!
